How to clean your LCD projector's air filter

When your LCD projector's air filter becomes clogged by dust, internal temperatures rise and could cause a fire and/or malfunction in the projector. When you see a message on your classroom screen prompting you to clean the filter, it's easy to do - and you do not need a vacuum cleaner nor do you need to fill out a Help Ticket. Just follow the steps shown below. The photos were taken in room 200 during filter cleaning there...it takes just a couple of minutes once your projector has cooled down.

  1. Turn the projector off and allow the lamp to cool for at least 45 minutes.

  2. If your projector is suspended from the ceiling as shown below, you should be able to reach the filter cover by standing on a student desk. Note the spot where the filter cover is located (circled in red).

  1. Below you see the filter cover outlined in red as seen from the top.

remove the filter

  1. Below you see the filter removed from its cover. To clean the filter, you should be able to just shake the dust out of it. Then replace the cleaned filter into its cover, replace the cover in the projector and go to step 8 below.

  1. These final steps reset your projector filter TIMER. Using the remote, turn the projector ON.

  2. Press the MENU button to display a menu on your screen.

  3. Point at "OPTION" in the left column of the menu using the remote's up/down button, then press the right-pointing-arrow button.

  4. Point at the "FILTER TIME" using the up/down button, then press the right-pointing-arrow button. A dialog will appear.

  5. Press the up button to select "RESET" on the dialog. Your filter timer is now reset to zero and you are ready to use your projector as usual.
